What does everyone think of the NBA boycotting? [I Hate Political Correctness]

I happen to be a sports bettor and huge basketball fan along with being a very political person. I will not express my views till I get other feedback on here.

Fuck those self-entitled, kneeling motherfuckers.

Couldn't possibly care less what a bunch of overpaid meathead jocks do.
southbeachguy · 46-50, M
@hunkalove I will always defend athlete pay, I joke with my mom did anyone fill a stadium to watch you teach poetry or sentence diagrams.
southbeachguy · 46-50, M
Sports bring the word lots of joy and they are paid in a capitalist system like other entertainers.
CountScrofula · 41-45, M
It's extremely powerful and shows the importance and influence of the league.

Sports are just as political as everything else. if you have power to do good, use it. Good on the Bucks.

Any of you regular or occasional NBA viewers? So I grew up loving the NBA and going to a game or two a year of the Dallas Mavericks, I moved to Miami the same time as Lebron and went to about 1 Miami Heat game a year. Over the years my life has turned much more towards cable news channels and business news channels. I use to watch sports and listen to sports talk radio 10 hours a day now I average maybe 2 hours a day. As a Dallas Maverick fan and also Miami Heat fan I was having fun watching the NBA since its return, but mainly focused on the those two teams. I absolutely will boycott games that do not involve the Mavericks or Heat for awhile. I respect protest, I do not respect protest that do not have an end goal. An end goal that no police officer ever has a questionable shooting (is not a real end goal). A end goal of funding body cams, encouraging citizen review boards, increasing minorities on police forces, other training is an actual goal. I wish someone would take a moment to celebrate that deaths of people across white, black, hispanic from officers is dramatically down over the past 50 years.

Notice they won’t boycott China for concentration camps or the treatment of Hong Kong.
They can stay out. They have nothing to stand on at all.

Let me add one other thing players are paid very little on a relative basis for postseason games compared to regular season games. So in a way it is a smart calculus on the players part without huge sacrifice to themselves puts the owners in a very tough smart. That said I am not sure what good it accomplishes for the players.

I personally couldn't care less. But that's just me

Completely juvenile. Acting like children that cannot stand up yo peer pressure. The only reason most are doing it is they lack the courage to stand up to teammates- they are afraid they won't be liked anymore. This is called insecurity- despite their $ and fame. Sports is about entertainment, and competition- should have nothing to do with politics or social causes. I quit watching them due to their support of BLM. I agree that Black lives matter, but I abhor the organization that calls for violence, destruction, and burning Bibles.
southbeachguy · 46-50, M
Well it does appear from reporting that the other Lakers and Clippers stood up to Lebron and Kawhi who both wanted the season shutdown. The role players are in tough positions and I am sympathetic to them. The new discrimination in many work places is being anything but toe the line liberal. I have no problem with people using a platform, but have concrete ideas.@LonelyMan

@southbeachguy When they start showing as much concern over all the innocent lives, including children that are murdered daily in Chicago, New York, Baltimore, etc as they do whenever a WHITE police officer kills a black man- THEN I'll pay attention to them. Until then, it's just puppets spewing the "party line".
southbeachguy · 46-50, M
@LonelyMan we need some sympathy towards the treatment of blacks by police, they need some understanding they create tons of their own problems. cultures matter
I'm a little disturbed by the knee jerk mob mentality and reactions. I've seen the video. I don't know what the officers saw, but turning around and walking away from an officer that's drawn his weapon seems like a bad place to start.

beyond that, I really couldn't possibly care any less about any sportsball teams. I wonder if any of this could be used to revoke their nonprofit status and make them [various sports teams] start pulling their own weight.
@luckranger71 the NFL is considered a nonprofit. I don't know for sure about the NBA. I have no idea what a 'US Canadian sports league or team' is.
luckranger71 · 51-55, M
@stound The NFL gave up it’s tax exempt status in 2015. MLB in 2007. The NBA has never been tax exempt. MLB, NBA and the NHL all have teams in Canada.
@luckranger71 fair enough, it changed in a not so distant past.
TiffAching · 26-30, F
I’m all for this wildcat strike.
southbeachguy · 46-50, M
@TiffAching What do you mean by wildcat strike?
TiffAching · 26-30, F
@southbeachguy A wildcat strike is a strike that isn’t officially approved by union leadership.

Plus: it sounds cool
southbeachguy · 46-50, M
Haha thank you for saving me the google effort. Have you ever been part of a strike? What do you think the players should be asking for? Or do you support a strike that is just a sign of frustration and not trying to accomplish anything?@TiffAching
luckranger71 · 51-55, M
I’m ok with it. Some things are bigger than sports. I see now the Milwaukee Brewers have decided not to play tonight as well.
MarineBob · 56-60, M
@luckranger71 and they'll still be paid the big bucks
luckranger71 · 51-55, M
@MarineBob 🤷‍♂️. Yeah, it’s a market based economy.
I cant judge I have not seen video of this but shooting anyone 7 times is extreme
MarineBob · 56-60, M
Are they wearing masks and social distancing
strongbow · 46-50, M
Since numbers are already down 45% this because of their virtue signaling bullshit and now they pull this blm shit over a thug who deserved everything he got?... i hope they destroy themselves into oblivion🤭
