I’ve never owned a swamp cooler before…

And now that I’ve bought a ladder to get up to said roof to examine the swamp cooler I now see why shit is not turning on…

Crap your float is corroded , must have some crappy water . Check the belt on the other side where the motor is. They break , easily replaced . Buy a spare when you get one .

@AnthroKenji spray down the build up with lime away . Get a hose up there to wash it out . Take all the sides off and make sure your water pump works and that the float shut off works . Once it’s clean and water is in it put a cup of tide ( powder) in it , put the sides back on and run it . It will clean your filters and it smells good !

@TexChik Awesome after I get through the gym and work today I’ll have to get that done.

@TexChik Surprised critters aren't using it as a salt lick
Unless you live in a very arid state, id consider doing a massive upgrade instead of much of a fix.

@stound Mmm okay I think I’ll give it some thought the humidity isn’t bad but some people have HVACs.
@AnthroKenji hvac will be more expensive to run, probably more to install, but almost certainly more effective, add value to the place, pull down your inside humidity, and might well cost less in long term service and damage it can do if it breaks.

@stound mmm you might be right I don’t like climbing on the roof to do repairs. Also water running through the house makes me nervous.
Looks like an aircraft’s turbine engine! 😱

@MethDozer Yeah? Mmm I wonder how much the electric work will cost.
MethDozer · M
@AnthroKenji not much. They run cheap, mold and mildew from a mishandled unit is the biggest pitfall of them

@MethDozer Mmm okay maybe buy the exact same one use the old connections?
