I Went To Look At A Home I Want To By And There Was A Mouse Trap In The Attic. My Real Estate Agents Say Its Probably Not A Big Deal...

My real estate agents said it's not a big deal and that they cant be exterminated. Do mice cause a lot of damage? The house was very nice, and I only saw one trap. Is this a big deal?

Mice, no. Rats, yes! But I wouldn’t be concerned about one trap. It’s the droppings you have to look for

The only damage mice do is when they make nests, usually in clothes.
rats, on the other hand destroy everything.
but to be honest, if you had rodents in a house you were selling, wouldn't you hide any traps? It might be there as a precaution, check for rodent damage and droppings.

@Penny I would get the opinion of a pest control service to see if there actually is a problem or not. Here where I live it’s mandatory when buying a new home to get a pest inspection anyway

They can be a big problem. They chew all kinds of things and are very dirty little critters.
