White lights or colored lights?

So begins the annual battle with my son...

I am and always have been partial to colored lights...but our tree we got last year has white lights (that's all that was available at the time), I didn't think I'd like it but once we got it set up and decorated it turned out beautiful. When the time comes to replace it we'll probably go back to colored lights, but for now we are really proud of our tree. We have colored lights on the house...

@indyjoe My son really likes the colored too. I don’t do the outside lights thing anymore, but honestly I like the white there as well. 🤷‍♀️

@HeavenBesideYou I just always thought that all white was just too bland looking, in moderation they're pretty but a lot of people decorate in all white inside and out and I guess I'm just not accustomed to that because to me Christmas is a colorful season. Our tree is white and the white lights help make the ornaments stand out more, so it actually is beautiful to us (I still miss the colored lights though)🤠

If they are tiny, I like white lights. I have these lovely globes that fit over top of Christmas bulbs. They make the whole bulb glow the colour of the bulb. It is soft and pleasing. Around windows, I like the multi-coloured lights.

@JimboSaturn I have these sweet white ones that shine on hanging icicles. They look so nice. And wire strands with tiny lights that are also white that I put in glass red and green vases that look sweet at night on a table or in a fireplace.

I use both strings of solid colors (white included) with a mix of multi-colored strings. It need not be one or the other, but artistically arranged to allow for the taste of each.....

They lift the colour of the different coloured decorations instead of blurring them with more colour.... if you get my drift. You could put coloured ones somewhere on their own.

@SW-User We decided that we wanted a white tree and colored lights look spectacular on it...our old one burned out though and when we replaced it, white lights were all that was available. We like the white tree w/ white lights, but we will probably return to color next time though.
