I hate air conditioning. And sadly, there is no group on here for that.

Open windows and fans are the way to go imo, unless it's truly sweltering.

Well thank God that is just your opinion and I can tell you don't live in Vegas or Florida places no one would live now days were it not for AC
With the AC going it was still in the upper 80's in my home today
When I am in shorts ,Ac on high ,a stand fan going and a ceiling fan
and I am still trying to sweat unless I take a shower

I am told in England its not as hot as here ,so my friend says they use no AC
Without AC my hallway is 120 when the sun is to the south

Already being miserable and in pain from a disability
I am thankful heat is something I can beat

And I am not a wimp ,,,I am a diesel mechanic ,and an engineer
I am used to being in a small space like an engine room with 180 degree engine
On a roof when it was 115 in the shade
In Florida it gets hot ,I am grateful for the invention of the AC

@rckt148 Yeah, London heat waves are like Florida Tuesdays. And in Scotland, a heat wave would be 80.

The issue I have in Ohio is that, for example, today was 83, and pretty much every place is air conditioned to like 68-70. It makes it feel the same as it would if we only had the heat set on 60 in the winter.

@33person I prefer 70 myself ,but i am one that loves the winter
I am used to dressing and facing sub zero weather ,its the heat I can't do anything about
I had a heat stroke 2 yrs ago and I know several people the heat killed them that same year ..
I don't mind paying the electric bill for the cool
Back when I wasn't in so much pain I loved being at the springs ,it cool there year round ,and I love caves and water falls ,,,so I am kind of spoiled about cool places
But I was the only Florida boy I know of roasting oysters in a blizzard
or diving off water falls

@rckt148 Yeah, the heat wave in 1995 in Chicago killed a lot of people who were on the second floor of old apartments in neighborhoods in which people didn't feel safe opening windows. Part of why even someone like me would say that air conditioning should be considered by the government to be a necessity, not a luxury. People can disagree about when it's needed, but it is sometimes needed.
That's all I have. I miss air conditioning some days. It gets muggy hot here, during the summer.

@midnightrose Key phrase: some days. It's nice to have it on those days.

I only use it in summer as it's unbearable otherwise especially when it gets around 43c/110f or more and it's humid.

@33person Actually i'm the same. Mid 20's and it's nice without it, unless it gets really humid. It's the humidity i struggle with more than the heat, especially when i'm sleeping.

@SW-User I have a window fan, and I love that. As long as the overnight low is below like 20, it can cool my room down nicely for sleeping. On warm nights (say where the low is 23), it would take all night to get it down to 27 in my room, and in that case, it's uncomfortable most of the night.

@33person Makes sense. I have a ceiling fan and i love that when the temperatures are low.

@Seahawks4523 Window fans are nice at night if it's cool enough at night.

I don't have air conditioning, and luckily it rarely gets extremely hot and humid here. But in really hot weather fans don't always cut it and open windows make things worse.

@bijouxbroussard I should really clarify. I mean when it's below 90 if it's not humid, or below 87-88 when it is humid.
I hate that America cools every place to like 68 even when it's like 73 outside. It can be perfectly comfortable outside in the shade, but then inside, I feel the same as I would in an underheated building in the winter.

With the right weather I would agree.
