Do you tip well?

Yes. I’m quite generous if the service is good. And understanding if the waitstaff is experiencing a rough spot beyond their control.
@ProdigalSummer Same here.

Yes, lived on tips when I was going to school. Need to pass the thanks on to others.

yes
And when I walk into a place where they know me
the girls fight about who is waiting on me
they know someone is getting a good tip
and I stack the plates when we are done with them ,
so I also make their job easier by putting things back where they belong
not leaving them a huge mess like some people do .

My ex wife was a waitress when I met her
I know how tough it can be ,especially on a busy shift
I try to make them happy
and in turn they make sure my food is right
They also know I hate someone hovering over me trying to rush me
asking every couple minutes if everything is alright .
They keep an eye on my table ,if we need something they are right there
they also know a decent tip is under the stacked up plates

When I get a waitress that acts like we are bothering her
I ask her if there is a waitress that wants my tip ,its clear she don't
Yes because my first job at 14 was a waitress

Yeah.

I hate tipping as a practice and think it should be abolished. But until that happens I always tip super well. I don't make less money if I'm grumpy or have an off day at work, I don't see why someone else should either.
If they did an awesome job I give a big tip, regular service regular tip. And if the service is absolute crap I leave whatever coins I have on hand.

I don't support the practice, but I do because it's custom here.

Yes though not as expected here in the UK. I don't have much but I always give something for good service. The last time was at a race where they were looking after people's bags and offering Jelly Babies with collecting boxes for charity on the table. I stuck what I had in the box but I was the only person out of about 20 who collected at the same time.
Yes. I suffer from diner's guilt.

Honestly i have mixed feelings about tips. Especially with taxis, taxis are not cheap but if i only tip £1 I might as well say: buy yourself some sweets, and if i tip more it just adds to the already expensive journey, so i really feel tips are a bit unfair

I'm not really rich but if it's terrible service 10-15% if it's great and amazing I do 30-40%
abooklover · 56-60, F
Yes, my son is a server and I can't believe how many diners stuff servers.
Myzery · 41-45, F
Usually. Sometimes, things are so inadequate that I just do the minimum.
DaughterOfTheDust · 22-25, F
$5 is my standard amount, if service is great i’ll add 2 or 3 dollars.
