I Love Aussie Rules Football

It's The Sport I Grew Up With... my earliest memories involve aussie rules. listening to it on the radio with dad as a very young kid and then later going to games with him. at primary school playing it for the first time. backyard sessions with dad practising to kick, mark and handball. the thrill of going to the mcg for the first time. the sights, sounds, smell and the sheer size of the place. the roar of the crowd for a goal. the pace. skill and physical effort. even now, as i am in my 11th year of playing it competitively, the adrenaline rush i feel running onto the ground is like nothing else.

My uncle was one of Melbournes first mascots, way back in the early 1900's, so of course my mothers side of the family have followed the team through out, strangest thing though, all our partners follow Collingwood,,,,
you can imagen when the two play against one another!!!!
Can't wait to see how our new coach gets the side up next year... could be a good omen, he has been an assistant coach at Collingwood the last 4 years..yahoo.

I have been a follower from a young age, although I have never played, I have enjoyed the game the spectacle that it is. My son has played as a junior and has also umpired both junior and senior grade footy, this is when I became involved as a goal umpire .
The mcg is an awesome stadium when full, I have been there a few times. Who do you follow.

I can feel it as you speak about it. I think the electricity is in the air. The excitement and anticipation of being enthusiastic about the sport, how the game will turn out, how each play is made. The whole stadium rooting for one side or the other. I can see how you would always enjoy participating whether as a pla<x>yer or spectator :)

It is wonderful as a spectator; how much more so for a pla<x>yer!
