Is Super Mario 64 the most revolutionary game in gaming history?

Reverend · M
Excellent game, like GoldenEye 007 was the predecessor to all first shooter games.

Definitely not even close. It was a barely-passing proof of concept for 3D platformers, which really didn't start to get refined to the same level of perfection 2D ones had enjoyed on SNES until 5+ years after Super Mario 64 came out.

I mean, I played it as a child, but video games like fallout and elder scrolls are where its at.
Goldeneye.. I’ll take you all to school

@Starchild1983 I rented it all the time back in the early 2000's 😅.

For me , it kinda is. the N64 was my first console as a kid, and SM64 was my first game. It always has nostalgia with it

The most revolutionary game in gaming history? I'm going to have to say Dungeons and Dragons.

Limiting it to just video gaming history... Super Mario 64 wasn't really all that. Maybe if you only ever played Nintendo consoles. PCs had a lot more revolutionary games.
