Why is it in video games that the main character can hunt a species to extinction with no consequences?

@SW-User But yh I can agree with you, Dragon Age's combat is a bit clunky until you know what you're doing.

And by "Know what you're doing" I mean not know what you're doing in any way xD I've been there lol

@Fangirlsarah1996 Oh, I loved the writing in Dragon Age: Origins, some of the best I've ever seen in any RPG, I had to quit playing it though cause I couldn't stand the combat. I've only played a little bit of DA: Inquisition, but I can tell the combat got better.. at least for my taste.

I think as a term, RPG is evolving, so now you have games like Undertale that use different mechanics and adds its own definitons. But I still shudder anytime I hear someone calling Call of Duty an RPG. 😩

@SW-User It was very old school...kinda like KotOR (Biowares Star Wars game...same level of writing, but older) But yh in comparison Inquisition is far more fluid...especially when you figure out how guarding and barriers work...you can be literally immortal then xD

I don't agree...I feel like developers take the term out of context a lot and it leads to RPGs that aren't really RPGs.

I shudder anytime I hear someone call Call of Duty a good game xD

@MrSmooTh Red Dead Redemption "kinda" had that.

There was a certain gun called the Buffalo Rifle.

There was also one herd of Buffalo near where it's sold...to unlock the gun you have to kill them all...though the sad irony is you cannot use the gun, designed to kill buffalo, on a single one...as they're all dead...

@MrSmooTh You also get to wipe out all but one Sasquatch in the Undead Nightmare DLC.

Other than that, I haven't seen many instances of extinction...except when it's a species that deserves it, like Deathclaws or Reapers or Giant Evil Ape things.
