Fallout NV Logic

*Walks into New Vegas for the first time in their life, probably literally the first time they've even heard of the concept of gambling, let alone Blackjack*

[Luck 10] "You guys might as well just give me all of your money now honestly"

Accurate summation of the situation as a 10 luck character. You can empty those casino vaults in no time even without their cooperation. I mean, it still makes more sense than Bloody Mess.

@Fangirlsarah1996 Fallout 3 and 4 are great examples of how not to add things to Fallout. So many internal consistency problems in so many places. X_X Bethesda's not the greatest at that.

@UndeadPrivateer To be fair Bethesda think "Is it cool" before "Is it even a thing?"

@Fangirlsarah1996 It's not the "is it a thing" that's the issue, it's "how would this thing be done in Fallout?" For example, gamma flashes.

They're a real world thing that happens with nuclear weapons when they go off, that big blinding flash of light that only lasts for a tiny fraction of a second when it explodes? That's a gamma flash, when the temperatures at the detonation point exceed that of the core of the sun. Not only does this irreversibly blind anyone who looks at it, but it also give an effectively instantaneous lethal radiation dose. There were hints that this kind of massive dose was exactly the thing needed for making ghouls, but that's getting beside the point. In Honest Hearts during the Father in the Cave segment there is a direct reference to an old couple getting gamma flashed and some subtle suggestions that perhaps even the Father in the Cave got flashed, though he wasn't looking at the blast so he didn't go blind, and became a ghoul which granted him an extended lifespan.

However, right at the start of Fallout 4 this is directly contradicted. You stare straight at an explosion, you see the flash, presumably get gamma flashed(which, by the way, with such intense radiation exposure the human body itself actually becomes a mobile radiation source due to one of the sodium isotopes in your body already being incredibly close to a radioactive isotope) and you are neither blinded nor are you doomed to ghouldom. There is a perk that hints at you being able to become a ghoul, but it's vague in what caused it and it's an optional thing.

Internal consistency. It can be a big deal, makes plot holes if you're not careful. And Bethesda's about as careful as a twelve year old with a sledgehammer.
