I've Made Mistakes In Life

Ive made plenty of mistakes in life, mostly small ones.. but the biggest of all has to wasting so many years on someone who i knew wasnt right for me, not sure i ever loved him..i just didnt want to be alone so i put up with substandard treatment for over 13 years. I dont want to make the same mistake again.. but with the same fears and insecurities fuelling me, i feel its a possibility.

So many people have this same story :/ and it's sad that we don't feel the confidence in ourselves and the strength to say "I don't need anyone". If anything, don't you think society has focused far too much on "you should meet a person, fall in love, marry them, and live happily ever after no matter what" but if you don't do it by the time you're 25 you're on the shelf and you are some kind of weirdo. Well there is nothing wrong with being picky I say.

Ywah I know right? Well if it makes you feel any better, my parents separated when I was younger and my mum was lost and alone for 13 years. And now, she has met a great guy and in that time alone she completely rebuilt herself :) she's driving, going on holidays, making herself look nice, and she is happy in herself. You just gotta think, would you rather need it? Or want it? Ya kno.

@Dollie I do think there is pressure to be desirable and find a mate. What about being a happy well balanced individual who enjoys their life, whether with friends, family or a partner!?
I am so used to living with someone that i am really struggling in my mid 30's to come to terms with being alone. I feel horribly lonely and cant enjoy the solitude of it :(

It took her a longer time probably because all her attention was on raising 3 kids :) but if you really want to then you'll find a way. And when you do you'll be too attached to your freedom haha 😁

@Dollie, i know the feeling.. I have 2 young children and its hard to be a person in your own right when you are a mother too unfortunately!

I'm sorry to hear, it happens. But the good news is you have a lot of life ahead of you... and you are now free, and wiser.
