I Wish to Raise Environmental Awareness

This is a truly serious problem. We are losing species every day which will never be replaced. The barrier reef is in great danger, all from climate change. Even if only a small part of climate change is from things men/women have done, isn't that enough for us to take action?

I apologize if you already read the following on another post, but it is so important:

I am really frightened about the non-believers. Even if they don't believe the main cause is human activity, why can't they at least believe the evidence that Climate Change is real and we are bordering on the point of no return. When the far right claim that the evidence is all made up leftist propaganda, how do we fight it off?

The mad man Russ Limbaugh facing the incoming Hurricane Florence, is denying Climate Change and using his own experiences in hurricanes as proof that the hype is all an attempt to strength=then the resolve to fight Climate Change. See his column and read it, and react!

The climate has been changing since the earth was formed and will continue to do so as long as that big yellow thing in the sky continues to shine.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@jackson55 true, but the previous changes were measured in thousands of years to change, it is now occurring annually. There is no disproving that. The only argument waged has been what percentage of the change has been and is man made. More importantly, the question is can we reverse the change!
jackson55 · M
[@ it's measured in the minds of people who attend the college of east englia. So called climate experts that fudge the numbers. There's just as many that say man made climate is BS as there are that say it's happening. Sure, man has some impact on the earth and will as long as we exist here. Overall global temputure has gone up about 1 degree in the last 100 years and has been flat since the 70's. Deadly weather patterns? Look at history over the past 200 years. Climate change, yep. And it will continue.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@jackson55 I won't argue with you if your mind is made up. There really is NO argument among real.scientists that the weather patterns have changed dramatically. You site false data and opinions. Take a look at real science not the wacko science deniers. By the way the weather and the temperature rise are not the same as climate change. The average temperature has risen less than one degree Celsius, but the number of severe storms each year has risen enormously and the effects on wild life is demonstrable. What percentage can be attributable to man is difficult to know, but even conservative politicians admit to a significant effect. The few laws that effect our atmosphere are already having some positive effects. The hole in the ozone layer has seemed to stop growing for one.

Even if all of the scientists are wrong, wouldn't it be better to breath cleaner air and drink cleaner water?
No ... it is not ... there are bigger priorities to occupy our time
Please ... I am an engineer ... do not talk renewable fuels and solar ... that stuff is nonsense .... no good will come of it.

We could hit our carbon goals by doing one thing ... let people be good stewards ... stopping the fires and using clean coal techniques ... period
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
The plush to diesel years ago certainly backfired, why do you think we can make coal safe and clean?
@samueltyler2

The technology is 30 years old ... it reduces the amount of coal and natural gas consumed ... it substantially raises the recoverable BTU per lb of fuel ... it substantially reduces both particulant and Co2 ... then allows the use of scrubbers that can substantially further reduce the particulant.

My hunch is the CO2 could likely be further reduced, by trapping it and redirecting it to enhanced oil recovery .... with lower CO2 volumes it is theoretical that the CO2 could be economically recovered... it has been done.

It also creates more flexibility in power generation ... so they do not bleed off so much power.

We all know it works ... doubt there is a downside.

The upside, is it makes possible many other techniques to further clean the exhaust and reduce fuel consumption.

But, at the moment regulations do not permit it.

@Dancer15 yes, and if the can't fix them?

I agree Sam. I used to receive notifications the times they were holding. Clean beach clean-ups.. the beauty of this is they plan it on a full Moon. children draw and color pictures to get the word out. Spreading the word in their community.taking these to shopping centers ect.

@Carla1951 good for you. We all need to stand up and speak up before it is too late b
