I Like Heavy Metal Music

I seem to enjoy a lot of what people consider to be poor albums from artists. I don’t know, I always give them a shot and often, not always, walk away with some sort of satisfaction.
Some of these albums include...

Ram It Down- Judas Priest
I saw Judas Priest two weeks ago. Fantastic concert!!! I was upset they didn’t play at least the title track though they did play a song off of my favorite album Stained Class for the first time ever!! Excitement! I enjoy Ram It Down a lot. Definitely in my top five by them. The title track, Hard As Iron, Blood Red Skies... amazing!

Virtual XI- Iron Maiden
Blaze was a horrible replacement for Iron Maiden... he can’t sing Bruce’s songs and lets face it, it was going to be tough but how they landed on Blaze is beyond me. However looking past the Iron Maiden stamped on the album cover, I really enjoy this album. It doesn’t feel like Iron Maiden but there’s some good songs on it. Futureal, The Clansman, Lightning Strikes Twice. The Angel And The Gambler... well... they tried 😂

Risk- Megadeth
I avoided this album for a long time after hearing how poor it was. I’m fine with experimenting and in this case, unlike Super Collider, it mostly worked. Insomnia is a great song, I love it!! Crush Em’ is cheesy yes but I get into it and then The Prince of Darkness. An awesome and overlooked song. I also enjoy Cryptic Writings by them with songs like Trust, Vortex, FFF, and She-Wolf. People don’t really talk about that one either.

St. Anger- Metallica
Before I’m yelled at saying I’m not a true Metallica fan my favorite album is Ride The Lightning 😂 I again avoided this like the plague. I was... disappointed at first. I gave it a shot a few months later. With each listen it got a bit better. There’s still some songs I don’t like (Frantic, Purify, All Within My Hands) but there’s some pretty awesome ones to with my favorites being the title track, Dirty Window and Sweet Amber. The lack of solos is disappointing, but I’m probably one in a million that doesn’t mind the drumming 😂 this album isn’t high up on my favorite Metallica albums but I don’t think it’s that bad.

Set The World On Fire- Annihilator
Now I know it’s not one that people bash on as compared to their later albums but I honestly never got far into their discography and this is usually coined as the downfall of this band and just not up to par. It isn’t as great as Alice In Hell or Never, Neverland but I really enjoy the singer... plus there’s some amazing tunes on here! The title track, No Zone, Bats In The Belfry, Knight Jumps Queen, Brain Dance... I’d say yes it’s a step down from the first two albums but only slightly.
