Time To Say Goodbye [I Miss Ep]
Met her 5+ years ago in EP. Over a 3 year period, we grew about as close as two people can over a long distance; over oceans at times. We managed to meet up once and spent the most wonderful day together.
In 2018, my employer moved me to a new assignment. It was only 1.5 hours from her. We spent the next two years driving to each other nearly every other weekend. It was truly the best times of our lives. Six months ago, I was relocated, again. Too far to carry on in the same way. She’s starting medical school and can’t relocate. She said she would, but I definitely am not comfortable with disrupting her trajectory.
These last 6 months have been rough. Believing that it’s all become more of a source of stress than it’s worth, I suggested we take a 30-day sabbatical to reassess what it is we want and what our relationship should look like. I’ve never been one to journal, but in the last two days since this break began, I can barely put it down.
Has anyone ever had a similar experience? This is more trying than I expected, but I’m definitely committed to seeing it through.
