I Hate College

This is why I took a break from the last term. It's such a pain! I'm losing my free time, losing sleep, losing my whole life studying it away! It had better be worth it in the end. But with the amount of people these days walking around with masters and doctorates but still not able to find a job really makes me wonder. 😞

Masters and doctorates can be a problem because the employers expect over-qualified candidates to demand a lot of money... Besides, the more someone specializes, the smaller their field of expertise becomes and thus it's harder to get a job. Only get a doctorate or masters if you really need one, many people get masters and doctorates expecting they'll be flooded with job offers from random companies but that's not how it works. Besides, an important aspect of college/university is social networking: get to be known, develop a reputation as competent, smart, hardworking, etc. If you're behavior at college suggest you're always bored, lazy and you hate the career you're studying, all the networking opportunities will be wasted. Think: of all the people you know at school, would you hire anyone if you had your own company of if you were a manager in a company...? If so, who, and why...?

In case you haven't noticed- unemployment is at historic lows in this country.

College isn't for everyone. And when I attended I was too young to appreciate it.
