How did the last scam message on your phone try to hook you into giving them your money or to visit their website ?

The last message I received started with,"You have won !"
When I investigated a bit further I found out that I had "won" the right to enter a competition to win a car. Together with millions of other people of course... 🙄

"Mom! It's me! I'm kidnapped in Columbia and they want 4 million dollars! HELP!"

I texted back, "This is Dad. Your mother and I have discussed it and we've decided to turn your bedroom into a home gym. Best of luck."

@xixgun There are scammers targeting grandparents telling them their grandchild needs to be bailed out & to send money or is stranded somewhere, etc.
Wraithorn · 51-55, M
@xixgun Lol. Nice one.

@xixgun 😄
It said: "Where's my money? Where's my money?? You've got twenty four hours!! Don't make a fool out of me!!" I hate that baker!!

@EugenieLaBorgia Wtf ? Genie you're cray cray but in a good way...:-)
@Wraithorn I know, I know - and I only have a pager!

Credit card refinancing...I have no credit cards yet keep getting these calls, also “your warranty on your vehicle has expired & we can renew it”, and then a Veteran’s scammer calls once every month (he used to run a police scam), and the fake Microsoft tech saying I have a virus on my computer. Sometimes I get a notice that I’ve won a free trip to Disney World or a free cruise.

@Wraithorn They do it to everyone. I answer the call just to see who the latest asshole is.

@cherokeepatti I got a call a couple of years back trying to sell me an extended warranty on a Dodge PU. I have never owned a Dodge PU>

@Shannon27 they just call up people randomly hoping something clicks...that’s the “beauty” of using robocalls. They can call a huge amount of people in one day and eventually someone will pay out for them.

Like the others, if I don't recognize the number? I don't answer.
Wraithorn · 51-55, M
@SW-User Me neither, this was a text message.

@Wraithorn Luckily for me, I don't take texts any more. Was getting more BS than texts from friends, so I disabled it.

@TheSociopathicSadomasochist Ah yes...I know an elderly lady who very nearly sent money to such a person. Luckily she mentioned the "poor man" to me before giving him money.
All I did was a bit of online searching and I found articles posted by people who had already been scammed by him/her/them. I gave her a link to those articles and her eyes were opened a bit.

If I don't recognize the phone number I don't answer. I haven't had a "scam" call for several weeks.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
It didn't! I don't answer calls from unknown numbers.
Wraithorn · 51-55, M
@DeWayfarer Neither do I. This was a text message.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@Wraithorn haven't gotten such a text on any cell.

Once thought I did, turned out it was a verification for something I signed up. Lol
Mguinm · 51-55, F
Lol I hate those calls and get them all the time.
