In your opinion what is the most likely answer to the Fermi Paradox?

CharlieZ · 70-79, M
The Fermi Paradox (not a formal paradox, just a speculative way to formulate a potential contradiction) asumes that the technical capacity to do something is enough to make someone to do it.
That is not, as example, what we, humans are doing.
In any case, we should take in account that "logical" necessity do not equate factual causal necessity.

@SW-User Are you saying that I own an Extragalactic Turistic bussiness?
SW-User
@CharlieZ No not at all. You are maybe just employed by one!

@SW-User You caught me!😁

Nitpicking, but it's only a paradox if there's intelligent civilizations out there. If there's not, there's no paradox.

Assuming it is, the simplest explanation would be time. Sure, you can expect X number of civilizations out there. But that doesn't mean that they're out there at the same time as us.

Or Reapers from Mass Effect.

@Sicarium or distance. Same thing depending on who you ask I guess
Sicarium · 46-50, M
@SW-User Nah, not distance. The Fermi paradox is related to the Drake equation. The Drake equation was specific to the Milky Way. So we're talking this galaxy.
SW-User
@Sicarium I think things have moved on a bit since then

@Tminus6453 Good decision

One must consider the fact that as life grows more complex, it becomes more fragile, and the conditions to support it's continued development become less likely to exist.

@SW-User unless it is machine life or spread out

At some point in their evolutionary process, they elected a Trump-like figure, precipitating an eventual collapse of their civilizations.

There are billions of stars in the Milkyway. Assuming there's another intelligent life species out there, why would they pick ours to visit?
It's also possible that we are one of the first intelligent life forms in the universe.
