This is interesting. Apparently, Fiat Cryshler and Renault are really considering to merge with each other.

A new holdings company with a fifty-fifty split. One just have to wonder what kind of weird shit the final products are going to be. It's like having a lion to mate with a honey badger.

This happens all the time. What they tend to end up doing is keeping the same individual marques but occasionally reuse parts where appropriate, and looking for cost-cutting opportunities (rather than forge a new identity). If you think about it Fiat Chrysler are already producing vehicles are diverse as Maseratis and Jeeps and neither really impact the other.

Renault own Alpine, which has interesting crossover potential with Maserati. Equally, Renault own Dacia (a growing force) and a large stake (45%, I think) of Nissan. A merger opens up real potential.

@uniglow Renault has agreed to put the Nissan co-operation deal on ice for the time being. That was the main requirement behind this new proposal.

Fiat and Chrysler have been essentially in the process of merging, since 2010. Merging with Renault would be a natural and through the Nissan connection, opens up design, manufacturing and sales possibilities on multiple continents.

This merger has potential.

They will be strangely shaped, but fearless. My wife has been talking about this a lot as she's a huge European racing fan so knows more about car companies than I do, lol

From what Rooster has told me in the past? All three makes are junk. Vehicles will look like Frankenstein!

@SW-User Bringing Robt up in this thread was quite unexpected. I guess they are going to develop some sort of electric eels on wheels together.
