The internet as we know it wasn't really available before 1993. There were BBS and limited email servers, but no true internet like we have today. We got it in 1993 as well, along with a 14.4 modem upgrade for the old 486, lol

It depends what you call the internet.
WWW had yahoo and was in the later 90s.
A 14k baud modem was fast for home and that used bulletin boards at the start.
Colleges had something called gopher but it was menu based.

My parents started using dial up in late 2002. Then my dad taught me how to search for pics on Yahoo search. He used to buy a lot of cars and I would be really excited to look them up.

I got the internet in 1999. It was a dial-up system in those days. It really got going when broadband came along and everything became instant..almost.

about that same time.....I remember when the new discs came in for the faster speeds and it blew our minds.
