If there were no mathematics & numbers, how would you count objects?

first method was to match each object with a stone. They were counting but had not given names to numbers yet. That's probably how anyone would do it. Match with a convenient small object.

Maybe by making comparisons to something else but i think even then it would still count as math. Numbers make everything and are in everything. I dont think its possible to get away from them.
