Why does Microsoft think it's so funny and cute to remove useful and essential applications and replace them with nothing?

Windows Photo Viewer, Windows Movie Maker, Group Policy Editor, Windows Screen Capture...Microsoft developed these programs, everyone liked them and used them, and then they just decided to axe them and not replace them with anything. So now we have to go hunting around on the web for downloadable files of these programs on sketchy media sharing sites.

i'm with you on this complaint, @BlueMetalChick … indeed, ms has taken out many good staples … and, veritably, ruined most everything else that remained. ms-paint had been removed … but ms decided to bring it back. ms-media-player was another one that bit the dust. remember the games ms used to offer?

eventually, i will replace ms with linux (ubuntu) … however, today's not the day.

Yes microsoft have made their OS less customisable and introduced more frustrations over the years. Windows 10 annoys me with it's need to give you updates when it decides which can be in the middle of an online game when you need maximum bandwidth.
@SW-User My work computer will be updated to Window 10 in the next few weeks and I am not looking forward to it.

I don't like Ms.Paint, not the current one. Some reason I find it easier to use the standard paint that comes on Unbuntu devices.

If Microsoft’s took inspiration from a MAC a four year old PC would be worth using and not skip fodder.

Probably took some inspiration from macintosh..

and probably made said decision sitting in colourful egg chairs eating some kind of pretentious fruit like a pear..or i might be thinking of google. trendy bastards
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@Bebop Google does the colorful egg chairs lol
I still use Paint and can’t believe they discontinued it.
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@LeopoldBloom They discontinued Paint? I have MS Paint on my computer.
@BlueMetalChick They ended support for it, unless they reconsidered.
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@LeopoldBloom Well I got this computer about a year ago. Maybe that's why.
sarabee1995 · 26-30, F
Screen capture is gone?
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@sarabee1995 Screen record, is what I meant. You can still take screenshots.
sarabee1995 · 26-30, F
@BlueMetalChick Oh right. Yeah, that was a while ago.

They want that money.
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@SW-User Now see I thought so too. I thought "Oh shit they're gonna remove the free programs and replace them with premium versions." But they didn't. After removing the free programs, they just refused to allow you to download them again, even if you offered to pay. So now you have to go to third party websites and apps.

I can send you a link to a decent movie editor, but it's got a steep learning curve
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@basilfawlty89 I found a downloadable file, but thank you for the offer.
