About making the online thing safer

I have been wondering if it’s a very fool idea to think that many of the problems and crimes online could be lessened by forcing any user to give the real personal identification, other way, they are not allowed to have internet.
Is it very stupid or impossible? I ask from a vague idea about how this stuff works.

I see how many times, the police struggles a lot to find a person behind an online user, for instance.

@kingkyri The same reply I gave @ RenaissanceMan. 👇
But, let me add something, don’t worry your dark side will remain private so far. I’m not gonna tell anyone. 😂

I think that would be a great idea. They would be verified before they were allowed to come on the site. Unless they might be really good at counterfeiting, I don’t know. Take fingerprints. 😆 But then people would complain about invasion of privacy.

It would be possible, but the end of internet as we know it. Everything you said could be used against you. Besides, it means considering all internet users as potential criminals.

@Cierzo You mentioned something very interesting. Trying every user as a potential criminal. I understand your point.
Do you consider yourself treat as a potential criminal when you are asked for showing your identity card?
Cierzo · M
@twistermind It depends on the circumstances. When asked for it in the bank I do not, I understand it is necessary. But in the internet, the only reason I can find is that your political opinions are registered, and can be used against you.

@Cierzo I guess the IP address plays the same role as identity card in the net.
I admit that I’m asking about something I don’t know very much about lol! But, I’m very concern.
It’s hard to see how poor parents have to deal with a big dangerous field where theit kids are moving through.
I put myself in their shoes and I feel panic.
All we know young people sometimes lack of dangerous feeling and there are many predators hidden there.
An IP address can be turned off by many government agencies. Even addresses of those who use VPN's. Mine has been turned off in the past several times. Security agencies can use forensic software and find 99% of the people they're searching for. NO... absolutely not. More control of anything just leads to more control. It would be a useless endeavor to try and stop human behavior, as sick as it can be at times.

@RenaissanceMan I’m not only talking about make things easier for police or security agencies, I’m thinking more of the average citizen. We have here, in Spain, as in other countries, an identity card.
If I want to sign up somewhere, for instance, a public library, I have to show and give my identity. Of course, I could lie and use a fake identity card but it’s not the normal thing. And I don’t feel controlled, to be honest.
I feel like this way, everyone takes responsibility for their behabiours by providing “ a signature”.
It is virtually impossible due to the common use of Ethernet as the communication layer. Packets are NOT signed ... thus everything is immediately anonymous once transmitted ...

And there is no worldwide means of authentication in place to balance that layer.

@questionWeaver I’m gonna be honest and I’m not gonna say I see what you say. But, I sort of think you are very educated in the topic.

I don't think it's feasible. I'm also against it.
