They generally are microwave safe. The bowls should be so marked, I would imagine.

Remove anything wooden - never put wood in a microwave. It will eventually burn.

The Corning container is entirely appropriate for a microwave. Yes, it will get very hot. Use an oven mitt or towel to remove it.
