@waleskinder Boring Company Not-a-Flamethrower [b]can't[/b] do it, but the long time unlimited availability Throwflame ones claim 110+ feet effective range. It's true they're extremely bulky and inconvenient though, and they claim only 60 seconds continuous flame.

With the 110+ feet version stats being 3.3 gallon with 33 gallon per minute fire-rate it sounds like in worst case it can only shoot six seconds at that range. You can load it up with their provided napalm mix, or any liquid mix of your own devising, so sprinklers might be less effective. However, people can still run away.

It would not be a weapon of choice for killing people, but a terrorist could use it to cause panic and terror (duh) with fatalities from trampling in a large event, or herding them towards bombs. However, again, it's lot harder to smuggle in than bombs and the purchase would certainly be noted.

Of course, this has nothing to do with Elon Musk, who was offering a glorified cigar-lighter collector item to fans to help finance his new venture, and is probably laughing all the way to the bank for all free publicity from the haters ;)
