I Hate When People Disappear In The Middle Of A Conversation

What's the deal with people who randomly PM you, then disappear after an exchange of a few short messages? [removed by staff] just did this to me a few hours ago. So weird.
I have no issue with being PM'ed out of the blue, happy to chat to anyone, but is this a spam thing? Am I now supposed to be wondering where she's gone? Does she want me to follow her? I'm a bit slow on all this sort of tech-thing so would appreciate some thoughts from other people / experts here!

EDIT -
I'm adding some additional text below the original post here, just because there seems to be some confusion... This is a post asking whether a specific user (mentioned above) is a BOT or spam. This is not me thinking that this user is a real person who just left a conversation. If it were I wouldn't have posted it as I realise people can and will just suddenly leave conversations.
Thanks!

Personally I think there’s a big difference between “calling someone out” for something you’re upset with or annoyed about in an effort to somehow shame an SW user, and simply asking a question about potential spamming, which requires a username as a reference.
If I’ve broken any rules or ToS’s then I’ll check that out and amend, as I have no interest in breaking any of SW’s rules. And the reason I had no idea mentioning another username is breaking a rule in the first place is because so many other people do it. Go figure.

I am aware that no one is obliged to continue chatting in a message stream they initiated, but that is a comment relating to a “real person to real person” chat. If you read the whole post, I am clearly asking a question about whether this type of PMing is a computer generated thing, a BOT, spam-messaging. The point of including the username, quite clearly and obviously in this case, is therefore to see if anyone else has experienced this from said user and can confirm that it is indeed a spam/BOT thing.

Both my second and third questions in the post are assuming that the messages are spam, not a real person. I’m not saying I am wondering where this person has now gone, or that I’m thinking of following them, I am asking if this is the point of the spam messages. I am not in any way upset or annoyed, I am simply confused by it.

Must have sensed you were the type of person who would actually call her out by name for not returning a PM.

Nooooo....... don’t follow her.

@LyricalOne I don't do cooking. I'm utterly shit at it. Sorry.

She and [removed by staff] both do the same thing..same time of day. Add you, chat then go and they take down their profile pics...and repeat. Both like wrestling.

No idea why they do it..almost like bots.

Fucking weirdos

@SW-User How odd?! Thanks for reading and understanding the post.

@Diyanne Yeah, but you're better than me...
Could it be because they are from diff. Country so they probably sleeping or in the middle of chat the person fell fast asleep. Or they find another person from their inbox more interesting.

I think it’s rude but it seems to be the way of the internet. People pop in and out as their live activities allow. Don’t take too much offense. Sometimes it’s not always feasible to say good bye.

I believe it's a real person, just by the answers and conversation, and when I called them out I got blocked.
Why they are doing it...who knows
abooklover · 56-60, F
Lol it happens to me all the time. Meh. Whatever. People are fickle.
sleepyhead · 46-50, M
@abooklover lol fair enough. Although I was asking if it was a spam thing, as opposed to asking if this is a person whose behaviour is odd. I've not had either before so was just wondering. Cheers!
abooklover · 56-60, F
@sleepyhead ah gotcha. Well hopefully you find good connections here. :)
sleepyhead · 46-50, M
@abooklover I have indeed. Thanks! I hope you do too.

Lots of people do it here. It's frustrating sometimes, what what can you do? Looks like this was the first time it happned to you!
JaggedLittlePill · 46-50, F
What is the purpose of posting their name publicly? No one here is obligated to continue a conversation.

Calling people out in public posts in this way is against TOS (terms of service)

Happens to me also, at least they could say " got to run, bye"
