I know a lady who can hear anything fine, but when there's any kind of background noise her mind can't isolate the sound of someone speaking to her...so she can't understand you if you speak to her, like in a bar or restaurant or even a mall. It's not an ear hearing problem as much as a brain processing problem. Dunno if you have anything like that or not, but you're not alone.
