People ask me if I feel terrible about Putin or want to live away from Russia. No

I have a life style my parents can only dream of. I have a nice home, I work, I go on vacation in other countries, I drive a good car, I can afford to blow money on a good time with my friends and still save.

Putin wants to stay in power? Let him. Our economy is improving year on year, public services is getting better all the time, we have more friends internationally than ever before and nobody is brave enough to threaten us head on. To lead the biggest country on Earth, to not submit to outside pressure to be clone of somewhere else - it takes a strong leader to do all these things. And we’ve got one. I think most of the haters are jealous they don’t have a someone who defends their nation as energetically.

So don’t worry, I’m fine, happy, not worried and not caring what the critics say. 🇷🇺✌🏻

That's what most people in the West do not get - things in Russia improving dramatically over the last 20 years and Putin is genuinially popular among Russians. The reason for that is that Western media only spread propaganda about Russia. They have only two narratives: 1) Putin and Russia are evil and dangerous and 2) things are getting worse and worse and Russia is going to collapse any time now. They have been wrong for 20 years and will most likely continue being wrong for another 20 years.

@Mugin16 Youve got it

@Lapochka I don't trust the Western mainstream media and I read very good Russian and Canadian bloggers who write about Russia.

@Mugin16 It’s always good to look at the bigger picture and take in other people’s point of view.

@Lapochka Exactly. And, as a Western person, it is very good to read non-Western sources. They see things often very differently.

@Mugin16 For sure. I don’t rely on just Russian media when I look at the world.

@Mugin16 I'm an American and a student of history, and I have never heard any media outlet or govt. person say things in Russia are getting worse and worse and the country is going to collapse. Is this what Russian media says foreign media say about Russia?

"A compendium of doom from the “experts”: Russia will fail in 1992, finished in 2001, failed in 2006, failed in 2008, failing in 2010, “rapid deteriorating economy” in 2014, failed or declining in 2015, failing in 2017, negligible economy and “rusted out” military in 2017 (“Russia’s coming attack on Canada” is an exceptional fount of worthless analysis: hardly a correct statement anywhere, starting with the sub-head), falling behind in 2018; headed for trouble in 2019. Russia’s isolation, ancient weapons, instability. A gas station masquerading as a country. Doomed to fail in Syria and losing influence even in its neighbourhood in 2020. One “expert” repeats himself as if the intervening decade had not passed." - Patrick Armstrong
