I Will Tell You Ten Things About Me
So, I have been away from SW for a LONG time!! What was a habit for me became something I hardly ever thought about. However, for some time now, I have been aware that some of the really NICE friends that I made on this site, might be concerned about me. Hence, these Ten Things in veeceekay's life (as of September 2017):
1) WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN FOR THE LAST 10 MONTHS? After I passed the LSAT test, I applied to several law schools. I interviewed at a couple and after being accepted I moved to the location of my choice and started classes in January 2017.
2) HOW HAVE YOUR LAW SCHOOL STUDIES BEEN GOING? Quite well. I was worried and very self-conscious that my unusual appearance would lead to embarrassment and problems at law school. However, generally people have been respectful and I have had few problems. There have been a couple of flagrant exceptions, but I'll not mention those.
3) DO YOU LIVE ALONE? No. I live off-campus in an apartment with my mom. That is a little embarrassing to admit since I'm now 26 years old, but my wonderful mother helps me out with a lot of day-to-day stuff that would be difficult for me. She's completely retired now, but might go to work eventually at a local college once we finish driving each other completely crazy. ☺ My dad still lives in the Chicago area, but visits us regularly.
4) WHAT KIND OF LAW DO YOU WANT TO PRACTICE? I still have a strong leaning towards copyright and intellectual property. The law firm where I worked as a paralegal did a lot of that. That variety of law would allow me to work under the radar most of the time, which is what I would prefer.
5) HOW IS YOUR TWIN BROTHER DOING? Never better! Happily married for going on two years now and wife is expecting a baby due in November. I get to be a doting aunt at last!
6) ANY SIGNIFICANT OTHERS IN YOUR LIFE? No, 'fraid not. Have dated a couple of times but those haven't amounted to much. It's okay. between studies, volunteer work, and church, I keep very busy.
7) ARE YOU STILL GROWING? Actually, I thought that would be your first question! Very little for months now (PTL!). It would be presumptuous, however, for me to assume that my macromastia has fizzled out. So, I just try to live day-to-day.
8) DO YOU MISS SW OR YOUR BLOG? Not really. I made the decision late last year to make a clean break from SW because: 1) I knew that while in law school it wouldn't be wise to devote a lot of time to social media like SW; and 2) I have a kind of compulsive personality and if I stayed even "halfway" in SW, I would keep coming to the site to check on people and questions and PMs.
9) HOW ABOUT THE PEOPLE ON SW? Now, those people I miss! I was blessed to encounter a good measure of really neat people that I came to love dearly: Kim, Aly, Judy, Abby, Megan, Mindy, Carla, Brian (and others whose names escape me now--sorry!!). That was the hardest part about leaving SW for good.
10) BUT NOW YOU"RE BACK? No, not really. Knowing how I am, it's just not wise for me to come back to SW full-time. I might check up on people anonymously and publish a very occasional post, but that's about it.
