8 weeks as in patient, 2 months day programme 1 year aftercare. 16 years 12 Step fellowship. 16 years sober.

Staying in jail will definitely get you sober and the probation year afterward will guarantee it with all the testing each week. Rehab is for people who actually want to change and get better.

1st of all, don't think, just do it. The Judge will give zero merit to an idea that obviously looks like a contingency plan. Check your self in and the leverage has begun in your favour 100%.

Ps one of my good friends only went to rehab after a judge offered it instead of a custodial sentence. She's been clean and sober ever since. Best decision she ever made.

I fell in love - and she gave me an ultimatum. After a while off the booze I was able to drink in moderation without alcohol abuse.

I didn't stop...I have cut down on my drinking from what I used to when I was young, but I still get drunk more often than I should.

I got lucky. I just stopped wanting it. Drink and drugs just don't do it for me anymore so there's no point. I do get the temptation at times but I know they won't help.
