Is SW mostly negative place?

I think it skews negative overall, but if you're willing to block shitty people, it can be more positive than negative. I only have 35 people blocked and it's basically peachy for me. A very large chunk of it comes from a small minority of users who are extremely dull and have nothing to bring to the table, so blocking them is basically a no-brainer.

It can be, yeah. For me it always depends. Some days it seems like everyone wants to shit on me, and other days everyone decides I’m the best person in the world.

There are moments of negativity on here but I try to look beyond it . When it gets really bad I just log off and find something else to do

It's a sewer.

Most people come here cause they’re depressed and tired of their “real life “, so you can imagine. I can tolerate negativity unless the main purpose of it is bringing someone down.

On some days, seeking out the positivity here can be a little challenging.

I think it mostly depends on how seriously you take it and how badly you need the positivity...

SW attracts a lot of people who want to "be themselves" in a way they can't be, on other social networking sites...it can be a hard pill to swallow sometimes.

People come here for a reason.. real life is unsatisfactory and therefore by the very act of coming here, most are expressing that they are unhappy. So its not surprising that their posts would, more often than not, reflect this generally negative attitude.

I've been a member since April 2018, and it's definitely changed a lot in the past 2 years. Not at all for the better, either. It seems like there is a lot more negativity now mainly due to politics and COVID-19 which has affected the whole world.

It would be really interesting to do a study of backgrounds of sw members..

It’s not as bad as FB or Twitter, but it’s a lot more negative than it used to be. It’s not the site per se. The site is reflecting the present day culture, which, unfortunately, has become more hostile and intolerant of every faux pas, or innocent comment.

I suppose it might depend on what interactions we have with each other. Especially around sensitive topics that arouse passion. For me personally, I’ve not had very many negative interactions or experiences.

A couple years ago, I’d be quick to rush in and point out all of the positive aspects of this “online community” we have, lol. But no, it’s mostly negative. There is no community here. No good one, anyway. 😆

If you browse through past posts you will see the positivity when it seems that is negative.

There is a supportive community here.

The world is a hard place to live in and there's way less censorship here than on most other (way more compartmentalized but constricted) forums.

So you see more reality.

I haven't made any stats on it, but it's likely more than 50 % of SW. However, our own mood will play a role on what we focus during our time here.

Not for me. I agree that there is negativity here but it doesn't affect me.

It goes through ups and downs.
There's a lot of negativity in life generally at the moment. That's bound to be reflected on these pages.

Sometimes it can be but I think it’s possible to circumvent the negativity most of the time.
