I can not, a comment berating me shouldn't have a heart.

Mostly, I only don’t heart if a) I don’t get notified for some reason or b) I disagree with the reply

If it's worth a heart - it gets one.
Generally, I acknowledge a response by responding.
Yes, it takes a little more time.
I think that makes acknowledgement more significant.

Yes I do. But with exceptions of course. I generally reply to most of them as well.
