How can we persuade the SW admin to forbid members to be rude to each other?

They don't seem to do much about it when we report trolls for being abusive. What else are we supposed to do?
latinbutterfly · F Best Comment
Wow, am I reading these comments right? Toughen up? Grow thicker skin? Load of crap. Look, there is no excuse for cyber bullying, plain and simple. Just because "it happens on the internet" doesn't make it okay, and if blocking doesn't help then something else needs to be done. I can't believe some of these comments on this post.
@JoeyFoxx Okay, well since you apparently think that cyber bullying is okay, you must be one yourself. I guess I'll just have no respect for you, then. Simple as that.
JoeyFoxx · 51-55, M
At no point did I say or imply that I endorse bullying.

This merely demonstrates that you thrive on angst, which is why trolls likely enjoy getting your goat.

I’m done here.

@latinbutterfly
@JoeyFoxx What the heck are you even talking about? I don't even think you understand what you're saying 🤭.

LyricalOne · F
Lol..... people are allowed to be rude to each other. Just as we have the option to block them.
@JoeyFoxx Maybe she's tried ignoring, and it hasn't worked? Have you thought of that? You should probably think about someone else besides yourself 🤷‍♀️. You seem to have a huge problem with that.
JoeyFoxx · 51-55, M
Ignoring always works.

Ignoring takes no effort.

I’m done here. Some stones aren’t worth moving.

@latinbutterfly
@JoeyFoxx Yeah, some people are very stubborn and hard headed, and think that their method is the only one that works. Keep it up, you're doing a really great job at it 👍.
SW-User
Block them. Blocks are there for getting rid of people you don't like interacting with. You can't report everyone that's rude and expect them to get banned, you would be here 24/7.
curiosi · 61-69, F
Administrators are not mommy and daddy. That's what the block button is for.
Ryannnnnn · 31-35, M
rudeness exists, just grow a thicker skin and deal with it or we have no freedom of speech.
Ryannnnnn · 31-35, M
@Glambarber Yes. One YOU grew up in.
One in which you had NO CHOICE but to grow up in, and guess what, you are restricted even if it's deemed as for your own good.

And it IS your preffered reality as it is the one YOU personally would like to re-create here, or else you'd state another one.

WE do have choices and we like it and that is freedom of speech.
I don't understand why this is such a difficult concept for you.

@Glambarber So you want the preffered/enforced reality of 17001 people to be imposed on the rest of the billions of people on the planet who could possibly come here?.

I already know what you're saying, but this is what we have report/mute/block for.
Just make use of it and you'll have a better time.

Hey Glambarber🌷

I’m sorry for not saying this earlier when you posted it, especially now after being told some mean things from someone I’d interacted with not too long ago. It made me rethink something and when I’d originally written my response to here, I wrote from the perspective of having used these types of experiences to help strengthen myself from and to not allow myself to be victimized by others’ words and actions. But I was reminded that it still hurts sometimes and people really need to think before they speak before saying what they do.

Bottom line is: compassion first and then followed by thoughtful action/response. Being mindful and empathetic and consciously directing one’s attention to kindness to have better results. Always. If you want to be treated with kindness be kind. Do unto others as you’d have others do unto you, love thy neighbor....It’s always the simple things we forget that matter the
most, that really make the biggest impact. Yea, we can get preoccupied trying to make our point we forget what needs to comes first...

Again, I’m so sorry that you went through this, you and anyone else that’s been bullied, or in general received unkindness. Because even though I agree with a lot of what’s been said, this really should've been my leading comment. Anyone who’s been wounded by another’s actions and especially when they needed someone, will remember how they wanted to be loved first, held & spoken to kinder to than to have been thrown rocks at, or received some jab at their expense. Luckily, my recent experience reminded me of this and I’ll do better in keeping this in the forefront. Please accept my apology, and I sincerely hope you feel a little better from the day before. Because if we don’t get this here it’ll just be more of the same. Big hug to you😌💕

You can't. If you prefer that everyone acts a certain way, either start your own site and make the rules, or find a site that's more in line with your sensibilities

@Glambarber She is IMO. But, if you want to have freedom from people you feel are abusive, the online community is extremely small and she runs the site in the manner you prefer.

Apologies to Nuno for advising you to go to another site but there is a limit on what admin has the ability to do. The amount of problems people encounter here on a daily basis far exceeds the manpower that's available here to handle it all. I believe most, if not all mods are here on a volunteer basis. They have other jobs in real life and can't be full time babysitters. It's why Admin set up the site the way they have. Honestly, I really don't mean for this to sound rude, I believe you really are expecting too much. If you visit any other large social site, they have the exact same issues.

@SW-User it's life.... don't feed the trolls, this is good practice... there is NO block button in life itself.
redredred · M
Why would you want to do that? If you cant deal with assholes in print, life could be tough for you.
SW-User
The Admins only kick off those they don’t like. As it seems that way. I’ve reported a few people for bullying me and others nothing was done. Yet when someone posted fun questions he got kicked off as people didn’t like him and the Admins took their side yet he never bullied anyone here. I think they go by the amount of people ganging up on that person to get them kicked off.

@SW-User That must not be true. We would never suspend anyone if they are a good member on SW.

I'm afraid there is no stopping cynical rude people in here and this place reflects the real world where you csn't stop them rude, obnoxious people either.

You can block or mute. I prefer not to.

For every rude one there is a good one in here. Give value to the good members.

Ciao

I'd much rather the SW admins control the users with multiple accounts. I suspect there's 20 trump supporters max on this site. Yet they all have 15 alternate accounts.

@latinbutterfly Sheep can't think and so project. Could be called bullying! See how that works??
No don't answer you don't.
@curiosi I don't know what you just smoked, but sheep are not humans and don't think like humans do.

In the end it falls on our ability to be responsible for our actions. Admins can’t be everywhere policing things. Beyond that it’s just the typical block option 💜
TheLoveAge · 36-40, F
@Glambarber I don’t know. Maybe it’s too expensive too much effort to put those into place. But really it’s good to have all types of interaction it’s what helps to grow people. It’s how you look at it too.

@Glambarber I don’t know what to tell you about the moderator situation. Others with more experience on this could help you better💜

As someone else already mentioned, this place is made up of all kinds of people and although being rude isn’t kind it’s not against any law either. It’s just as much as free speech as it is if someone were to just say kind things. The freedom is there for everyone and it it’s up to the individuals to decide how they conduct themselves. And how the receiver perceived is up to them. Everyone has a responsibility in it.

A frame of reference

I don't know, but it would be a much better site if the admins would do something. I gave up on that a long time ago and mostly just keep to myself now. You asked in another comment what kind of site this is and all I can really say is it is not a support site at all.

"[M]embers ... be[ing] rude to each other .., " isn't something for SW Admins to concern themselves with.

Rudeness is mute worthy.I think admins have bigger fish to fry.

Enforcement isn't the answer.

Dealing with rude behavior is easy: ignore the offenders.

It's really not hard at all.
