Because people have something to hide or be embarrassed of.

Idk. This website is supposed to be anonymous but we invest so much of our real selves that we even afford to be ashamed about whom we have as friends here lol.

Because there is a certain person that wouldn't leave me alone on here, and when I wouldn't talk he would go to my friends.

Hmm, for me I guess it's for the privacy of it and the over curious, aka nosy's and trolls.

There are a lot of reasons given, but sometimes maybe it's simply a bit of paranoia for some.

I don't block my FRIENDS. ONLY those creepos who cuss me out, or pretend to be natural and normal, then start talking sex and inviting me to give or get a spanking. Or the people (I've had two lately) who argue with my POV on anything (choice of subject here) and keep telling me "You don't get the point" or "You're stupid" or some such variation. We all have a free choice of who we want to talk to, but someone who likes to deny another's thoughts and opinions is something else.

On EP I once had the experience of someone who was stalking me and making ugly comments go down my friends list and make remarks to some of them. It occurred to me that whom I befriend is really no one’s business so I decided to stop showing the list.

some people are like you shouldn't be friends with that person because blah..blah ..blah..

Long ago I played with privacy settings, never touched them again. Lol
