What is it with people who play mind games?

Try to be nice to someone and they treat you like dirt. I'll admit I'm a very gullible person and I try to be extra nice to people who I think are going through a rough time. And people like me get taken advantage of. But it's not going to change who I am. I can't let a few manipulative people turn me into a person I don't want to be.
