I Am Christian

Answer honestly…

- Can you recite the plot and even some lines from your favorite movies?
- Do you gladly plop down money to buy a new phone, app, game or something else you want?
- Do you somehow manage to set aside a few hours to pursue your own interests despite having a very busy schedule?
- If your favorite movie actor came to your house for dinner would you serve them leftovers?

You’re probably thinking that these are ‘duh’ questions. Why, I’m willing to bet you can recite several movies that you’ve seen - including some of the dialog. Since most people work hard for their money they deserve to buy a few indulgences now and then. After a hectic work day, everyone needs to have a few hours to do what they like. And no one in their right mind would serve their favorite movie actor old leftover lima bean casserole. That’d be rude.

Ok, now let me rephrase those questions a bit. (Remember, answer honestly)

- Do you know more than just a couple of popular verses of God’s Word?
- Do you begrudgingly drop a few coins in the collection plate at church?
- Do you set aside a minute or two each day to read your bible and/or pray?
- If God came to your house for dinner, would you serve Him old leftovers you found in the back of your fridge?
…………

It’s amazing how a person can know all about a song or a movie and yet know so little about God’s Word. Can a movie tell you how to live? Can a song show you the way to heaven? So many people get so wrapped up in obtaining the fleeting things this world offers that they short change God. They take the best for themselves and give God what’s ‘leftover’.

***
Leftovers are such humble things,
We wouldn’t serve them to a guest
And yet we serve them to our Lord
Who deserves the very best.

We give Him leftover time,
Stray minutes here and there,
Leftover cash we give to Him
Such few coins as we can spare.

We give our youth unto the world
To hatred, lust and strife;
Then in declining years we give
To Him the remnant of our life.

***

God gave you the very best of heaven – without hesitation. Are you giving God your best?
Or are you simply giving Him your leftovers?

Lord, I pray for the unbelivers, that you would touch their heart, and help them to understand, amen.
@Carazaa You're a typical arrogant christian, you just can't take the hint. Let me spell it out for you, your threats and "warnings" are not wanted! Is that clear enough? Now, please take the advice in Genesis 9:1 - Anglo-Saxon translation.

@Carazaa I'm not worried by your imaginary friend.

@NortiusMaximus Have a nice day!💛

This is great❣️😇🌟I give thanks daily for my blessings big and small. I think of Him first thing in the morning and at night before I go to sleep. I pray for others as well asking Him to send the angels to help where help is needed. Thank you for sharing this, ♥️it's a beautiful reminder!

I'll keep the movies and leftovers, not everyone is interested in someone else's idea of God and the afterlife.

@SW-User There are many different ways to take the bible.
SW-User
@SW-User It has some beautiful poetry and some good advice and it was written a long time ago so it is historical.
SW-User
@SW-User Indeed.
I guess this little sermon is aimed at people who are already believers, to guilt them into feeling that they’re not working hard enough and don’t deserve God’s love. No wonder young people are abandoning religion in droves. Nothing here about doing anything for your fellow man, it’s all God, God, God.

What never ceases to amaze me is the incredible selfishness that some religious people display. Not all of them, but definitely some.
Silverwings · 61-69, F
@LeopoldBloom If you guilt someone into doing something that is manipulation the same thing as witchcraft and totally against Gods word, so no that is not it, and all Christians know you do not have to work hard to please God, and also that no one deserves Gods love, it is freely given. Gods number 2 command is to love your neighbor as yourself, and if you do that you will never do him harm and you will help him in any way you can, so if you put God first, you won't have to worry about any of this.
shuhak · M
@LeopoldBloom No guilt, merely a reminder that we need to examine our lives to see where our priorities actually lie. It’s very easy for us to get caught up in the world and not realize it. God wants our entire being focused on Him, not just part of it. He said, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength.” In other words, God wants us to love Him with every fiber of our being. 100%. If we put God first in our lives, love for our fellow man will naturally follow.
@shuhak I think it's more important to help other people. God if he exists doesn't need anything from us.

Also, it's not like religious people agree on what "putting God first" means. A Christian and a Muslim will have very different views of that, even though both of those religions developed from Judaism (which also has a different view).
- Do you know more than just a couple of popular verses of God’s Word?
As "god" is just imaginary, one can imagine it saying whatever one wishes.
- Do you begrudgingly drop a few coins in the collection plate at church?
No, I don't waste my time by going to church to listen to fairy stories.
Do you set aside a minute or two each day to read your bible and/or pray?
Pray to what?
If God came to your house for dinner, would you serve Him old leftovers you found in the back of your fridge?
You mean if I imagined a mythical being appearing on my doorstep. Any one in particular? There are a lot of gods to choose from.

It is so refreshing to meet other believers, you make my heart smile!! 💞☺️😇🙃
Fangirlsarah1996 · 26-30, F
Why should someone else tell us how to live? Surely that's the exact thing many people are fighting against nowadays.
shuhak · M
@Fangirlsarah1996 I'm only saying that laws do tell us how to live (to a certain extent). We just don't think of them that way. Some countries have laws telling them what they can and cannot wear, yet other countries may have no such laws.
Silverwings · 61-69, F
@Fangirlsarah1996 God designed the human body, he knows what is best for each of us, he sent his word to show us how to live, so that we could get the best out of this life.
Silverwings · 61-69, F
@Fangirlsarah1996 Fight all you want, but you cannot say you were not warned.

No left overs for me. I take the ‘whole book’. And it is more important than this whole world piled up in a heap. One soul is worth more than all of this world. What would man give in exchange for his soul?
SW-User
@shuhak I realize that. But we must be careful. Jesus said, let the tares grow with the wheat because you might pull up some of the tares. Nobody sits high enough to do that but Jesus!

Matthew 13:24-30
King James Version
24 Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field:

25 But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way.

26 But when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also.

27 So the servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir, didst not thou sow good seed in thy field? from whence then hath it tares?

28 He said unto them, An enemy hath done this. The servants said unto him, Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up?

29 But he said, Nay; lest while ye gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them. @shuhak

“We” as in I think he comes first no matter what!!! No need to be defensive with me....But I also think some people here are very judgmental and that’s not their calling! Jesus dwelt among sinners trying to win them and he, himself was criticized by the Pharisees...

I am in no way trying to critique your post...and I don’t know you. What I am saying is there are many here that call themselves Christians but shun people they deem as sinners...And they are missing the mark!!!! And those are my words and my thoughts!!!
shuhak · M
@SW-User Please, forgive me. I wasn't trying to be defensive nor disrespectful to you in any way. I was only making a casual observation. It is never my intent to hurt anyone, only to uplift and give fodder for thought. I am so sorry that my reply came off as negative. (I appreciated your comment.)

@shuhak I certainly didn’t take offense to your post as I know it’s true. My point is that so many here are judging their brothers and sisters... all on their own for perhaps something they don’t quite see eye to eye with or some other something or the other. I posted the scriptures for general purposes and not to throw the word at you. I know full well what you are saying is truth’ 🙏🏻.... But I see people here that act like if they held a conversation with someone that is not just like them, they would tarnish them and that is not the spirit of Christ... Jesus was found teaching among sinners and they heard him faster than the scribes and Pharisees..I’ve been blocked for simply not sharing the same opinion with some. Some I’ve had to block for lifting their self up above and trying to straighten me out when they have NO CLUE about me. I
Don’t allow none to do that... I don’t come here for insults. You did good!! ❤️
Carazaa · F
I am far from perfect but I try to be pleasing to the Lord. I start my day with 3 chapters in the bible and a sermon on you tube, I end it with a sermon on you tube, and I listen to family radio (hymns and sermons all day). I do not watch any movies I write a book or hike instead. And I praise him all day long which is easy to do since he is so good to me.
Silverwings · 61-69, F
Awesome, Shuhak!!!

Well, I am not a Christian and so this will not really pertain to me.
But, I respect you and since this group is for Christians...I understand what you are saying.
