I like to discuss absurdities at times but sometimes the juvenile nature of some can be depressingly obvious and tedious. There are far better ways of spiking my attention, if that is your object. Let's try being just a little more enterprising or at least interesting!

OK, two tangentially related things:
1) "pique my interest" is a far more eloquent way of saying "spiking my attention".
2) Enterprising and interesting in this context refer to the same thing.

Some days, I just want an easy read. Something that isn't going to stretch my intellect beyond its capabilities too much. A "cat in the hat" or something. Other times though, I reach for something on the top shelf. Something a little more....high brow? Like " the Hardy boys" maybe?🤔
