Does the 4th of July mean anything to you?

This indeed was the most significant holiday for my family. In my youth I was brought up by die hard "Orange county" Republican patriots and politics were foundational to our family life. I am one of the few left who is a direct descendant of John Hart AKA "Honest John" one of the signers of the Declaration of Independance.

Dad sometimes rode on a float sponsored by the Daughters of the American Revolution, often with his picture in the papers in front a backdrop of the American flag. Contrary to popular belief the signers weren't regarded as hero's, in fact, my great ancestor and many of the others had to into hiding, John and his family had to hide in a cave.

As for me, as a product of the 60's, I became one of those crazy hippies, a full fledged "commie" Liberal parading for such horrible things as civil rights and protesting a useless war. I am willing to bet John Hart would be rolling in his grave, not because of my behavior but what has come of the Republican Party.

Happy 4th!

Never cared for it and yeah I know my history pretty well and your right people hated them, because of the fact they were smugglers who hated the fact Britain wanted to make tea cheaper. It's never been big for me, to us it was just a day to look at fireworks.

Lol, my mom did that too, she wet back in her fourties and got her teaching credentials. what college did you go to and that's awesome.
Thank you, I lived in the midwest at that time so Attended the University of North Dakota, kids seem to do well there, too dang cold to do anything but study. I know you're proud of your mom for doing that! To this day I'm still pretty hooked on self improvement.
