You have just been given £10m / $10m...

...would you really know what to do with it, and if so, what?
Sicarium · 46-50, M
Yeah, I'd use. $200,000 to buy a decent place in cash, no mortgage or rent. I'd stick $500,000 in investments, split between risky and safe. Then I'd blow the rest on cars. And maybe hire 6 escorts for an evening.
Valentine · M
@Sicarium: In the UK, an Escort is (was) a type of Ford family car. I'm assuming you don't mean this type of Escort ;) [6 - in one evening? "Respect" 🤓
Sicarium · 46-50, M
@Valentine: Actually, an Escort RS1600 might be on the list of cars. But, no, wasn't referring to that kind of escort.
Valentine · M
@Sicarium: Wasn't it an RS1800 'Mexico', or am I showing my age and worsening memory ;)

Donate 50% of it to various organizations around the world for the benefit of the planet and people.
The 50% of the rest would be in my Bank Account and the left out money -- I would discuss with my family and then spend it.
Valentine · M
@JustAHappyPerson: and $10m - same answer?
JustAHappyPerson · 31-35, M
Haha.
You have already predicted my answer...
Thanks anyway. 🥂
firefall · 61-69, M
Sure. Pay off existent debts, replace my car with a newer model of the same, stick the rest in my investment account. $1m isn't all that any more, certainly not enough to retire on.
Valentine · M
@firefall: Sounds good :)
firefall · 61-69, M
@Valentine: as it's now $10m, that's fairly simple: $6m into investments to live off, $2m to buy a house in New Orl'ns and move back there, retire, and give away $2m to friends & relatives.
mrmoose · 70-79, M
go back to australia
Valentine · M
@mrmoose: Ok, sorry to stir your expectations. I'm sure you would find moving quite a wrench in any case.
mrmoose · 70-79, M
@Valentine: i met someone on old ep, left everything behind and flew to her there
Valentine · M
@mrmoose: Wow, there's heart-struck for you. Good for you.
Crazywaterspring · 61-69, M
Pay down some debts and mortgages for friends and my daughters.
Valentine · M
@Crazywaterspring: Sounds good and easy to do. Who would you help though. And wouldn't you feel bad about leaving some deserving cases off the list?
Crazywaterspring · 61-69, M
My daughters would have their mortgages gone along with their school loans. One person in particular was the loser in a divorce. Another just needs a break.
Valentine · M
Somehow, I wish I had that $10m for you. Take care.
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
Buy my children their own homes = £600,000
Buy one for myself = £200,000
By the time you've put carpets; curtains; whatever else in it......there's a million !
Valentine · M
@Picklebobble2: There was an addendum, Picklebobble (what a name!); you now have £10m... Enjoy?
SINAI · T
Straight to my savings account.
Valentine · M
@Silhouette: So, inflation nearly 3% .v. Interest rates maybe 1% if you're lucky? Wouldn't that be effectively giving it away? :(
SINAI · T
@Valentine: Yup.
Stick it in the bank and live on the interest.
Valentine · M
@Pedromartinez: Yes, I guess that would work too. No 'helping friends out', Pedro? I thought I knew you a bit better ;)
I would still be looking for sales🤣
Valentine · M
@Starshine: Ok, you need to keep 'busy', I can relate-to-that ;)
Valentine · M
Some people are never happy, saying $1m isn't really 'that much'. So, you now have $10m... Enjoy! ;)
