Do you ever wonder who you could've been?

A friend of mine from back when I used to do a lot of music stuff only just turned 17, and has already become a pretty popular musician here.
Another friend, now 19, have had several art exhibitions and has a pretty popular art blog.

I know that it's because they've narrowed in on one specific thing pretty early. I wonder what I could've been if I'd done that, too. I've had a singing instructor since I was like 6 years old. Three or four years before I left, the classes ramped way up as we started focusing on Opera. If I had stayed, could I have been on my way to become an Opera singer?

Or if I just forgot that, and focused harder on my badminton back when I was part of a badminton team. Could I have been a great badminton player?

I know that jack of all trades, master of none is supposed to be better than master of one, but sometimes it feels like it would've been better to be some sort of specialist.

We live in a world of successful specialists. The person who can do everything quite well is of little importance when communication between vast groups is so easy as it is today. You can find and employ specialists with greater ease now than at any prior point in human history. Impact on something as large as a country, an industry or even the world is nigh on impossible without a focused strike. But don't worry, being "great" is not actually important at all.

Setting clear goals and defining what/why you want things before taking any action prevents scope creep around how and where we spend our time. Might be worth examining.

I wonder who could I've been if I chose another college and lived far away from my hometown. I keep this thought that I'd be more self confident.
Who knows...

Could be that you just haven't discovered your thing yet.
if it was meant to be.....and all that.

No matter what I would have done, I would have been in this position I am now. Unemployed and out of school. The skills I have acquired I do like though. Air conditioning tech and art.

@MartinTheFirst: Not gonna lie, air conditioning tech proficiency sounds like it could come in super handy.

@NorthernRoses: Well it sounds like it, but it won't. I dug my grave. I wish the best to you however. :)
