Humans only stretch themselves as much as they need. We no longer have to remember much when we have Google on tap. We no longer have to learn to repair things when most things can no longer be repaired and are simply replaced. And we no longer need to learn to make thing when most things are made for us.

A Stone Age person would find it easier to live off the land than we would, even with all our education.
