Happiest countries report 2017... Hmm...

1. Norway
2. Denmark
3. Iceland
4. Switzerland
5. Finland
6. Netherlands
7. Canada
8. New Zealand
9. Australia
10. Sweden

So for people to be generally happier, you either have to
A ) live somewhere reeally cold or
B ) Live somewhere with tons of scary, venomous insects and animals 🤔

The people who conducted these reports have not seen the happiness of people who live on hot islands.

@Georgimy: uk was 19th

When you see Syria at 152 that puts it on perspective for me
the weather in Syria is just as crap as here in the uk??

@Aidolovemostofyourthoughts: trust me you will start hating the sun when you live in a country where it gets constant sun. I live right close to the equator in an island where there is always sun, it's always warm, but I hate it.

I'm surprised Sweden isn't further up the list, near Norway and Denmark. Why aren't the Swedes happy?
Jeephikelove · 46-50, F
Canada isn't really cold...OK BC isn't really that cold...OK the Southern part of BC isn't really cold. 😊
marsbar · F
Interesting that the US isn't on there, but yay for Canada.
marsbar · F
@BeautifulDemon: Yes, there's that.
Xuan12 · 31-35, M
Too much stress, not enough benefits. Wealthiest nation in the world and we don't have what most other developed nations do.
marsbar · F
@Xuan12: True

Wow!! I was expecting Sweden and Canada to be higher and Iceland much lower on the list. Also I wasn't expecting to see Australia there. But I somehow thought that these crazy Norwegians would be in one of the first places. xD

perhaps the long, cold winter helps people reflect on how nice things are in the summer. and gives them a good amount of time for things like reading, appreciating arts and the like.
Jeephikelove · 46-50, F
Nah we still bitch about the heat when we have it too. 😄
Smokey · 46-50, M
Denmark has the highest cancer rate also
Smokey · 46-50, M
@jeephikelove: exactly
SW-User
@Smokey: Is that true it's due to the inbreeding? I didn't mean to offend, but I heard that.
Smokey · 46-50, M
@Arrow: that I do not know

the US passed laws to box up and ship all the nations happy to orlando to store it en mass and create the happiest place on the planet.
#alright, disney jokes kinda suck. sorry.
CynicGirl · 26-30, F
all these countries have very high taxes in common...

what does that tell you america ?
NorthernRoses · 22-25, F
Also, most of them have free health care and education... 🤔
Jeephikelove · 46-50, F
This is true!!
SweetMae · 70-79, F
They have to keep each other warm!
Jeephikelove · 46-50, F
That's the fun part!!!
SweetMae · 70-79, F
@jeephikelove: That's why they are happy!
Jeephikelove · 46-50, F

Shadowstep · 26-30, M
Or love in the world's most nuetral country
Or Holland where drugs and prostitution are legal 😂
Xuan12 · 31-35, M
I do like cold environments.
Mostly semi socialist countries
NoYou · 26-30, M
I wanna visit europe :(
firefall · 61-69, M
or C, live in New Zealand :p
NorthernRoses · 22-25, F
I just assume they have scary creatures living there too lol. I mean, the kiwi is pretty damn spooky if you ask me 😛
firefall · 61-69, M
@NorthernRoses: a nocturnal flightless bird that's as high as your knee, and eats grubs and roots?

Nah, there's nothing scary living there except people: it's not like Australia at all
walabby · 61-69, M
You hardly ever see those scary critters, though...
MartinTheFirst · 22-25, M
Lol so stupid..
MartinTheFirst · 22-25, M
@NorthernRoses: right, because statistics showing what kind of people are happy and not are known for its exstensive research and scientifical methods :0
NorthernRoses · 22-25, F
@MartinTheFirst: You don't need extensive research and scientifical methods to find out how people feel about things man, that's not how social anthropology works 😂
MartinTheFirst · 22-25, M
@NorthernRoses: there's sooo many places where shit can go wrong within researches like that, it's all bullshit
tenente · 100+, M
1. Norway(?)
2. Denmark(?)
3. Iceland(?)

lol i call bs. how can countries who receive the least amount of sunlight and boast high amounts of alcoholism be 'happiest'???
NorthernRoses · 22-25, F
I'd say probably because Northerners are accustomed to it. Also, while still dark as fuck, polar nights are beautiful, especially considering they're often paired up with northern lights and the like. :P
NorthernRoses · 22-25, F
@A7xqueen: Haha my bad, can't forget them alternative facts 😂
@NorthernRoses: lolz the alternative facts I have here say Scotland is the happiest country... also the sunniest 🤔😂
