I will share some mind blowing facts about my native Siliguri.
1) Siliguri is the biggest city in the northern part of West Bengal, so the North east Indian states depends on Siliguri for everything.
2) If you wanna visit the famous hill stations like Darjeeling or Gangtok you must visit Siliguri first and then take a bus or rented jeep to there. In 2017, we went to Gangtok from Falakata but thats because we went by my uncle's car by hiring a driver but if you don't have personal vehicle you must go to Siliguri.
3) Even for visiting Falakata, Alipurduar, Madarihat you must go to Siliguri first if you wanna go by bus or any rented jeeps or cars.
4)Siliguri is also a gateway to Nepal too. There is Nepal border in Siliguri.
5) Siliguri is the only place in northern West Bengal with good hospitals so many people from the smaller places like Falakata goes to Siliguri for health checkup.
6) Many people living in places like Falakata usually prefer to buy home appliances from Siliguri as most shops there sell better products.
