I often think I'm a human sponge.
I listen. Soak up information. Absorb anger and frustration. Then try and help folk move on.
Not sure what damage it does to me though.
So many sleepless nights; bedside vigils; distressed folk to try and comfort.
I carry so many memories of people; clients; events; outcomes both happy and sad. I've attended weddings; christenings; birthday parties; even funerals !
And each event leaves either a memory or a scar.

I have so many.
Getting up in the middle of the night to check suspicious noises.
Knowing how to program VCRs and make the computer work again.
Driving 47 miles to find a store open to buy prune juice.
Asking about how someone's day was and listening with helpful intent.
Finding the car almost out of gas on a regular basis and putting some in.
Telling a 45 yr old woman not to forget to bring her ID when we go out.
Hunting down off production perfume and spending a ludicrous fee for 3.5 ounces of alcohol that can't be drank.
Bunch of things. Brace up buster. You'll find it's easier after the numbness sets in.

You know what I do not get? Complaining about answering a robot while making a comment and answering a robot.
The purpose is to (imo)
1) have some type of normal

3) you can respond to other peoples comments also and have a discussion.
None of which you are being forced to do...so why complain and whine?
