Did you know that other people are running for president?

I didn't. I thought it was just Trump and Biden.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
There is almost always some people running on third party platforms. Unfortunately, the way we vote in the US, those are really wasted ballots. A third party candidate doesn't have a chance winning. It is a gesture to vote against the other 2, silly gesture in my opinion.
GerOttman · 61-69, M
@samueltyler2 too much wrong there to even get into... btw, I'm in NJ too!
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@GerOttman wrong where? Not with what I stated, I believe that is factual.

I have been in NJ since 1972. I have worked with almost every governor, of both parties. I found 2 republican governors that I enjoyed working with, one I despised, most of the time, democratic governors were more disappointing than the republicans.
GerOttman · 61-69, M
@samueltyler2 "good for you"
Eternity · 22-25, M
Yeah the democratic and Republican parties have a monopoly on candidates. Its unconstitutional. Everyone is supposed to have equal representation in this republic but they have it to where without them one has no realistic chance of winning office.
@Eternity A realistic House would better reflect the US, not only by sex & race, but by political party. Would we have a few Communists, white supremacists, etc., ? Probably. Would they bring down the country? They would be moderated by the other many voices, so, no.

Would that demonstrate to the world that we have a strong, healthy democracy? Yes. Most definitely.

@SomeMichGuy Taxation is theft is all anyone needs to understand. Still having fun playing along I see. You always this easily amused?
@GerOttman
Taxation is theft is all anyone needs to understand.
Oh, so now a new argument?

If you believe this, then you ought to go live elsewhere, because the power to tax is arguably the biggest power the US Congress has (and why the Tax Code gets so complicated, since most every policy gets expressed in it).

I do not mind paying a portion of my income to help the very needy, take care of injured soldiers, etc. I have been blessed and support the causes in which I take a special interest with charitable giving, too. While I don't think paying higher taxes is a virtue, I think taxes ARE stealing when they are misused.

For me, as for a conservative friend of mine in Alberta, it isn't the taxes, it is what are you getting in return...?

If a

• safer food & drug supply,
• safer air & other transportation,
• insurance of your bank accounts through the FDIC et al.,
• defense of your neighborhood, state & country,
• retirement & health care,
• better roads, etc.,
• attempts to smooth out the economy's roughest patches
• postal service, etc.,
• funding for research in vaccines, other drugs, new technologies, etc.,
• help with stabilizing food production & prices,
• loans to rural communities & other development,
• judicial recourse for government violation of your rights in the Bill of Rights, etc.,
• regulate trade with other countries,
• have valid money,
• issue passports,
• interact with foreign governments,
• have safe havens for US citizens overseas,
...

...then please make your case to your Congressman & start the process of repealing Amendment XVI & part of Art. I, Sec. 8.

What's your next dodge-and-conflate?
GerOttman · 61-69, M
@SomeMichGuy I'm sorry, I didn't even try to read that. It's not a switch, it's the basic concept. Again, right over your head!
MrAboo · 36-40, M
They’re the only ones that matter and have a passing chance at getting elected
InkBot · 36-40, M
Yeah, they won't win. It's just to create the illusion that we have options.
HannahSky · F
Other people run in every election.
Iwillwait · M
Please remember to write Iwillwait in your Ballot. I approve of this message.
Yes, there are always others. The Libertarians, Greens, a few communist parties, ...
Dolimyte · 41-45, M
Kanye West is running.

I may write in someone
GerOttman · 61-69, M
@SW-User I'd go with Carole Baskin / Joe Exotic!
SW-User
@GerOttman sure as hell neither of those
I’ll do Mark Cuban
openwater · 46-50, M
Jo Jorgensen, a Libertarian.
@openwater Her running mate is Spike Cohen, who was Vermin Supreme’s running mate last time. The libertarians are a joke.
wildbill83 · 36-40, M
Biden doesn't know either... 🤣

Other people don’t matter.
MrSmooTh · 31-35, M
Vote for me
The other people aren’t serious candidates. They had a debate, but you could lay see it on live stream. So if you want to see it now, tough.
JaggedLittlePill · 46-50, F
Of course. There are several parties besides Republican and Democrat. But those are the two most likely to have enough backing for viable candidates.

@waleskinder I have no idea. I take things too seriously sometimes. Sorry I deleted the previous.
