Are you a forgiving person?

I am. So back in high school 1995, I had a bully, right?. Even after I had enough and beat her ass one day, I still had a little beef with her for about a year. My parents eventually told me to just let it go and forgive her, because a grudge isn't healthy in the long run.

"resentment is like drinking poison and waiting for the other person to die" never hold a grudge...it's toxic to YOU.

latinbutterfly it is alright your parents say let it go this would make you the bigger person but some people cannot just do that still waters run deep i know this for a fact as i suffered bullying at school and it is hard to find it in your heart to forgive sometimes i suppose you do yourself no favours in the long it can screw you up not the bully as they havelong forgotten there crimes against you
@smiler2012 I understad. The effects of bullying can definitely last for years for some people, sadly.

Not it isn't but I wouldn't forgive forgive her right away if I was you. Why should we forgive bullies? I'm not a forgiving person.
@IzzyZ2002 I see what you are saying. Believe me, even after my parents gave me that advice, it still took some time to forgive her. Sure as heck didn't happen right away.

@latinbutterfly I had a bully back in middle school. It's been four years and I still haven't forgiven her. My dad even said to forgive her. Hell no I won't! I'm tired to people telling to forgive.
@IzzyZ2002 I was the same when I was your age. As you get older, you'll realize that life is too short to dwell on the past.

Nah, I'm too mentally weak to not forgive....... Well, I mean... Only the serious things I don't forgive.... But.. Y'know.... Childhood foolishness... That's something I can get over. ┬┴┬┴┤•ᴥ •ʔ/

If you feel it's hard for you to, and it still takes a toll on you, maybe try therapy to help you make peace with the situation.
@assemblingaknob Thanks for the advice. I forgave her years ago. Although depending on how bad bullying can be, it can stick with the victim for many years.

@latinbutterfly I understand one hundred percent.

You go around beating people's bottoms when you have a grudge against them? Lol :)
@HairbrushDiva If you look at the year above, it was 1995, lol 🤭. I let it go years ago and I don't think I have ever had to kick a person's ass since.
HairbrushDiva · 31-35, F
@latinbutterfly OK, you went around beating or kicking people's bottoms 25 years ago.
@HairbrushDiva One person, and I was 17 when it happened. Now I am 42 and much more level headed, lol.

I am almost always willing to give the benefit of the doubt, and do believe "what's done, is done". From there all I can do is learn from the experience and move on.

I can hold a grudge for big things but for the most part I am forgiving. It just may take me a while to get there.
@summersong Yeah, it may not happen overnight for sure.

For the most part. I forgive but I won't forget, still won't like you, still won't let you get close to me

I am within reason. In that case, I feel I would let it go. It’s been 25 years.

I am. There are only two things I never forgive.
assemblingaknob · 26-30, F
It depends on how much it damaged me.

Yes. For most things.
