Ever met "educated"/ people with degrees that felt they knew it all but they are actually stupid?

When you listen to or read what they have to say you realise they are very shallow and they dont even have common sense. They equate having their college education as being of superior intelligence but when it comes down to things when you listen to their reasoning its all crap
unfortunately yes

I have 2 masters degrees. The thing it's taught me is how much I don't know lol
@Drewman You're 'normal'!!

Book smart, common sense stupid I believe is the saying.
Keepitsimple · 51-55, F
I run across a lot of those people. @WindTherapy
WindTherapy · 56-60, M
@Keepitsimple I do too. Especially in the environment I work. ;)

i've worked with Neurosurgeons. They're brilliant at what they do but absolutely shit when it comes to being a human being.

@nahright09 Doctors!

All the "book knowledge" in the world is useless if someone doesn't have the common sense, experience, and wisdom to use it. I have seen many times where people with high school or less educations and had common sense and life experience have run circles around people who had high IQ's and college degrees. Albert Einstein figured out the theory of relativity but couldn't even tie his own shoes.

Bullshit.

Educated derelicts, one of my uncles called them. Lots of academic knowledge, no practical knowledge. 🙄
Carver · 31-35, F
Oh yes, plenty like that! I always say you have to have gone to college to be that stupid.

Every given gay!
wildbill83 · 36-40, M
yep, pretty much anyone under 25-30; how little they know... 90% of their college education is just a bunch of useless crap with no bearing in the real world...
luctoretemergo · 61-69, M
It fades (the bother of it) as you get older....basically you learn to ignore or avoid people like that.
indyjoe · 56-60, M
@luctoretemergo It gets a little amusing and entertaining as you get older too😏
This isn't actually all that common. The less educated folks like to think it is. Maybe it makes them feel better?
Shell · 31-35, F
@RandomForest You completely misinterpreted and misunderstood
@Shell No. No I didn't. But that's okay. :)
Shell · 31-35, F
@RandomForest No one is saying formal education is not important. Do you get that now?
WindTherapy · 56-60, M
I've known some with high level degrees that struggle in day to day life activities. I've known others that didn't have the formal education that have simply amazed me at what they knew or could do.

Nothing wrong with education if you can understand how to apply it. But it should never be a measuring stick used to value one's being over another.
Shell · 31-35, F
@WindTherapy Exactly. Nothing wrong with education, in fact I like education but it should not be used as a measurement of one's value
WindTherapy · 56-60, M
@Shell Yes education is a great thing. We continue to learn every day of our lives whether we intend to or not. Some just go further out of their way to achieve it. :)
my ex had trouble changing a light bulb

I think a lot of people like the identity of it. Its like they've gotta talk crap to convince themselves they're that thing rather than actually be an experienced and wise person.
There are plenty of self proclaimed intelligent people who don't have self awareness and are hypocritical and unable to think critically.
AmericanBroad · 31-35, F
Literally all the time
KA9ha · 31-35, M
what you state is a fact since they have had little interaction with people while they concentrated in their studies
SW-User
I've met plenty of highly intelligent people that have no common sense.

Yeah... it's a bigger epidemic than the current crisis.

It shows college is a total waste of time for many.
