Do you go out of your way to squash bugs and other small critters on the ground?

One of the kids I teach does this 😕 He's only four years old though

There are two things that might stop him? Either teach him more about the insects and how they play a part in the ecosystem so that he starts to respect them and their fascinating behaviour.

Or, try to anthropomorphise them so that he feels worse for killing them. Make him watch A Bug's Life or something. 😅

@Pseudonym Those are some pretty good ideas! Ever think about teaching preschool? 😝

@SameSame Haha thanks, I've thought about teaching... but at preschool I think I'd struggle with it after a while. It's definitely selfish of me, but I find it much more rewarding to teach kids who are older. I don't think the sort of subjects I love talking about would make much sense to kids at preschool... highschoolers perhaps? 😄

Although, I would enjoy doing the occasional lesson as a guest, to perform some fun science experiments, or in the summer get them outside doing a bit of ecology or botany. 🌿🐸
There's nothing wrong with that! It's not creepy at all it only becomes creepy if he kills bigger animals lol btw kids are good at imitating what they see, maybe he has lots of bugs at home and his family kills them so hrs use to it. I don't know why people like to see immediate things , there's always many explanations

@RadiantRuby Yeah, I figure it's something like that :) Kids will be kids

@RadiantRuby Small things can lead to bigger things, which can eventually lead to people...

No I don’t go out of my way no sometimes tho ants are so small you accidentally stand on them or if garden dark and it’s been raining you accidentally stand on slugs and snails I don’t like bugs or spiders in my bedroom or bathroom afraid of them going in my ears or mouth so I do ask others to get them I don’t or won’t very often squah bugs but don’t go out of my way to do so tho

I used to be a sadist with bugs when I was a kid. I think it's normal. 🤷‍♂️

@SameSame That's fair. I don't wanna kill hordes of ants nowadays. I now think they're neat to watch and learn about. xD

@SW-User Some bugs are cooler than others. Ants are alright. Cockroaches or bed bugs? No thanks 😬

He knows his power and exercises it fully. He'll grow to be strong.

Well, the only way to get him to learn is to crush him
I go out of my way to save them and set them free.

Not at all, I don’t bother them unless they’re in my home.
I didn’t kill things as a child, either.
