Are love bites a thing of the past?

I remember love bites on the neck, even had one myself back in 1979?
I rarely see them these days though I'm sure couples still give each other a Hickey.
3 years age a male teenager died of a stroke after the love bite caused a blood clot and lodged in his Brain, causing death.
