How important are funerals?

I’ve never been to one. Sometimes I hear about certain ones and experiences that makes it sound like they have or go to funerals out of tradition or expectation. And that it was aesthetically a funeral but nothing really happened to bring closure or it made things worse or is traumatizing; whatever non intrinsic thing that funerals are expected to have is missing.

What is that non intrinsic thing?

I personally hate to go to funerals but it is the right thing to do.. we show respect to the ones we admired or loved in our past. One of the worst was my Mother’s.....just this week......yeah, it really sucks but you and I both, will one day, meet the same demise:(

It depends on why you go. If you go for yourself you will be disappointed and irritable. If you go offering to console those that need consoling, you will find you get a lot out of it.

Funerals in my culture are pretty complex and big events. Awfully draining too in every way. Guess that's part of what makes them such for me. Lolol.

You get to gather with other people who have all lost the same person and they can tell stories and spend time with one another celebrating the loved ones life
not into them -
