I remember a time when ‘a wife’s duty’ was to stay home, have babies and nurture them and run the house.

That duty has changed for many, and now it is a wife’s duty to help earn the family income and it is the duty of both spouses to share household tasks.

@Mamapolo2016 are you N. American? If so, I'll take that as a 'yes'. When someone uses the word "duty" and the subject is a married woman, the assumption is that this is all about her duty to serve her husband, then it seems that duty in general is not held in high regard

@ImperialAerosolKidFromEP I hold it in high regard, assuming the husband also does his duty. How a couple chooses to define duties is their business.

I was trying to find out if she is expected or chooses to work outside the home and is still expected to ‘serve her husband.’ If so, don’t be surprised if you end up a widower.
